Is PRP hair treatment painful?

PRP Hair Treatment (“Platelet Rich Plasma”) is a safe, 100% natural, non-surgical procedure that promotes hair growth for men and women by using their own plasma and growth factors to targeted areas of the scalp with hair loss. Studies have found that PRP reduces hair loss, increases diameter and density of hairs, and accelerates healing after a hair transplant procedure. Moreover, it’s not just for hair— PRP can be used in tendons, ligaments, and muscles as well.

While individual results vary with each patient but most patients require 3-6 treatments, with each treatment spaced around 4 weeks apart. Results of PRP treatment are most noticeable after six months of scalp injections. Once you reach your desired results, patients may require additional maintenance therapy every 6 months, at the direction of the doctor.

If any hair loss clinic claims that PRP Hair Treatment is very comfortable is telling a lie. Given that there are a series of injections administered in the scalp, the pain exists but can be managed. The most effective way to minimise this discomfort is to do a ring block in the scalp by numbing the area with a local anaesthesia. This makes the procedure less traumatic and therefore more comfortable and effective for the patient.
